HI-AM Quartet
HI-AM String Quartet is a classical group comprised of highly skilled and dedicated professional
musicians in Glendale, California. All four musicians Tigran Yerkanian, Armen Mangasaryan, Sahak
Karapetyan and Hovik Hovhannisyan have earned their Masters Degrees from the Komitas State
Conservatory of Yerevan, Armenia. They have been members of Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra,
“Tagharan” Ensemble, and Orquesta Filarmonica Buenos Aires.
The members of the Hi-Am String Quartet share a unique history of personal and musical friendship
that goes back almost thirty years. The first violinist Tigran Yerkanian, as the first violinist of
the Symphonic Orchestra of Teatro Colon and violinist Sahak Karapetyan, toured all over Europe,
Russia, and Latin America as members of the “Tagharan” Ensemble. Second violinist Armen Mangasaryan
and cellist Hovik Hovhanissyan joined the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra in the mid 80’s and played
both domestically and abroad in leading European and North American concert venues, including
Carnegie Hall.
These musicians share their passionate love for music and their mission is to maintain the Armenian
culture in Diaspora by inspiring a new generation to appreciate classical music. The Hi-Am String
Quartet was nominated for the Diamond Award in 2009, was awarded a certificate of recognition by the
City of Glendale, and received a Mayor's Commendation from Mayor Frank Quintero. The Quartet places
special importance on educating our young generation with our unique music traditions.
